Summer just got a whole lot hotter
Summer Chase has already loved and lost once and she has no intention of going through that pain again. But when a hunky Camaro-driving P.I. shows up at her B & B looking for a room for the week, she sees something more than a hard-bodied guest. For the first time since her husband's death, Summer's sexual interest is awakening, and she's not about to hit the snooze button!
Gage Knight is a P.I. in desperate need of a vacation. His impromptu trip to Cape May, New Jersey, seems just what he needs to relax and unwind. But when he knocks on the door of Chase's Bed & Breakfast and comes face to face with sexy owner, Summer Chase, relaxing drops to the bottom of his to-do list. Now all he wants is a tasty Summer treat, and he plans to take his time, savoring the curvaceous beauty one inch at a time.
Question is can she watch Gage drive off into the sunset when the week comes to an end?
Warning This story contains a hard-as-nails, ornery, demanding, tattooed PI eager to please, a widow ready to get back to the business of living and loving, and the kind of hot summer sex that you just might want to bookmark for later.

I just finished reading What She Wants. I won't go into a synopsis but I will give my thoughts. It was sexy and I got their connection right away. However, the story was quick and I didn't feel the development between the characters. What makes a good romance is their romantic development aside from the sex. I have read many short books like this that were high on the sensual aspect of the character's relationship but also developed a reason why they wanted to be together - outside of the bedroom.
I got Gage's hunger for her. I got Summer's fear of getting involved after her husband's death. I even got their attraction. But the rest I didn't get. In this story, Ms. Rainey 'told' me that they talked about other things, 'told' me that Summer had reservations about their relationship, but I never 'felt' that it was so. It seemed rushed, hasty, and not that satisfying in the end.
A quick read filled with sensual energy, to me it falls a little flat in plot line development.
Would I recommend it? Maybe.
Added 10-31-11: I finished the second book in the series last night and it is so much better than the first in building the angst. It is short but the third book pickes up where the second left off. Higher marks for What She Craves: Cape May, Book 2.

What She Wants edition by Anne Rainey Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
When I am in the mood for a sweet, hot erotic romance that has a strong alpha hero and that special woman in his life, I reach for a story written by Anne Rainey. The first tale in Ms. Rainey's "Cape May" series, "What She Wants" is about a hard working young widow who has etched out a living by turning her home into a bed and breakfast following the sudden death of her husband 2 years earlier. While Summer Chase keeps very busy seeing to the day to day running of her little establishment she hasn't been involved with a man since she lost her husband and is lonely. Then sexy as hell Gage Knight arrives for a one week stay at her B&B and sparks fly.
Once Gage does a little gentle prodding and learns that the lovely Summer isn't involved with anyone he wastes no time and asks her out. This is a short story and their relationship blossoms into intense intimacy quickly. It is also a Samhain "Red Hot" contemporary romance, and is sexually explicit. Ms. Rainey writes sizzling love scenes, and while her heroes do tend to be dominate alpha males she always adds just the right amount of tenderness and kindness making them that much more appealing.
Gage has no intention of staying in Cape May, New Jersey, or settling down. He has a lucrative private investigation business in Ohio, he therefore has some decisions to make when he develops strong feelings for Summer. And, Summer knows Gage will be leaving after his one week vacation and she resolves herself to the fact she will have to say goodbye. Summer struggles with guilt over their hot and heavy affair and for developing feelings for Gage in such a short span of time. She feels this sullies her husband's memory.
I loved the setting of "What She Wants", Summer's B&B overlooks the ocean, it is very picturesque, Ms. Rainey writes with a sensuous descriptive prose that makes Gage and Summer's story all the more special. If you enjoy a hot erotic, contemporary short story, you may like to give "What She Wants", a try.

He's not looking for love. She needs an extra boarder to make the bills. Does it hurt that he's hot as all get out, and she's not bad on the eyes as well? Not one bit.
I know when I get an Anne Rainey book, I am in for a hot time. What She Wants doesn't disappoint. In fact, it goes above and beyond. The characters are realistic and engaging. I felt like I was there on the shore with the both of them, falling for each of them. The descriptions are rich enough I could see Gage and Summer in my mind. I didn't want to put this book down.
I liked the idea of the story. Her husband died over two years prior and her reaction to men has been nil. I can relate. Sometimes its hard to move on after tragedy. She's still a woman in her prime, but hey, even loners get lonely for the person who makes them tick.
And Gage? He's a little rough around the edges, but very much sexy. I wanted to see him in person. I loved his inner struggle. He wants her, no doubt, but when things get deeper than he wants... its nice to see him squirm a bit. He wants to love her, but how does a somewhat prickly, forthright guy admit his feelings? Hey, you need to pick up a copy of this book to find out.
The sex scenes are steamy. I had to check my screen to make sure it hadn't melted. Yeah, these were scenes I went back and read over again to savor.
If you want a book that sizzles and makes you think, then you need to read What She Wants. It's sure to make your keeper shelf, because it's on mine. I give it 4.5 cherries.
This book only went from the bed to the hot tub and back to bed. Other customer reviews didn't help in this case. I was unfamiliar with this author or I never would have bought it. I'm not a prude and a good lusty sex scene is good, but this was not even a good book.
It was sexy and yet the story beautiful. starting on the second book. Hope its half as good as the 1st
I didn't like it that much because first off the book was to short, and the entire time it was about sex. I didn't approve of the manner in which he spoke to her. It just wasn't very realistic to me for as woman to jump in bed with a brute so fast after being solvent for 2 years.
It was touching, sexy, funny, and romantic roles into one story. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Bought all three books together without reading any of them. They were all short and stupid. Hated them, but read them anyways because I spent the money on them.
